Finally a bedroom to sleep in that was dark. Our suite is quite a good size and has a small bath that I tested out last night.
6.52amAll the seagulls were coming for breakfast in the park opposite us.
Today the plan is to drive to Brighton for breakfast and walk along the pier. In the afternoon we are going to the Antarctic centre. Get an idea for an up coming trip.
Brighton Beach and pier.
So many birds hopeful of an easy meal.
Some of the murals around Brighton. There was also a lot of graffiti and rubbish laying around.
We took a drive along the esplanade then headed back in the city centre (Christchurch). Andrea and Mark dropped us off at the International Antarctic Centre. We spent a few hours there having a great time.
Went through mud, water, up a 45° hill, over tyres and more. It was hard to get photos as we had to hang on so we didn't slide around and I was laughing too much. I'd compare it to a crazy roller-coaster ride but more fun.
I managed to point the video camera over my shoulder a couple of times but it was very rough and shaky. Our seats were not cushy at all.
The only living penguins we saw were in there nests.
This lucky lady had the job of scrubbing the penguin enclosure. That's why they were hiding out.
