Day 4 Queenstown 1.3.23

Lady at the front desk of our accommodation has lent us her car and we are heading out to explore a little further north. It's just a little 2 door, 1995 Rav 4 but it will do nicely.  We were unable to hire a car for under $400 a day at short notice.
We headed off to the Shotover River.

We decided not to do the jet boat ride as there was a cold wind blowing and we were there half hour before they opened anyway.
On to Arrowtown. Information centre had an art gallery and museum attached.

Wool press.
Main street,  looking both ways.

Some creature is making holes all over the place,  possibly a rabbit 🐰

Lots of sculptures around.

Reading material while you're doing your business.
Very large, fluffy, mostly black bee.
Stopped at a couple of lookouts as we drove over the Crown Range to Cardrona and Wanaka.

Looking back to Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu in the distance.

We were going to have lunch at Cardrona Hotel as all my research said how great it was but not only was it being renovated but the queue to get in just to have a drink was not to our liking so we looked at a couple of old buildings and moved on.

On to Wanaka to find 'that tree'

After a coffee and wander in town we headed off to another beach in search of 'that tree'

We found it.

On the way home we stopped to look at Lake Hayes. The wind was stronger and colder so we opted not to go for a walk.

Today we drove 160kms and we've walked 10kms, including a night stroll by the lake. The temperature was 11-21° and there was a few spots of rain.
